Jakub Matuska (1981) is currently considered one of the most interesting painters of the younger generation today. His work is enriched by the expressive elements of street art, but is also conditional on the creation of master painters like Picasso and Surrealism for example. During his studies at the Prague Academy, Jakub Matuska graduated from the academic residence at Cooper Union in New York and at Middlesex University in London, where he gained insight into current trends and contributed his personal enrichment of painting. After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (2009) he has developed his own expression through the classical hanging painting, but which carries on the technical elements of street art such as spray paint by spraying.
Masker's work established itself on the offical art scene and on the Czech art scene helped change minds on the viewpoint of street art. In 2011 he won the National Gallery 333 Prize, awarded by the National Gallery. In 2010 he appeared among the finalists of the Chalupecký Prize, where he was among the favorites for the title. The visual layer of Masker's canvases are more sophisticated each year, so you can look forward to seeing his new paintings, which will be presented at his solo exhibition at dvorak sec contemporary in September 2013.
